Keep a pulse short and regular

A pulse works because it is small. Ask three to five questions, always in the same order, and the trend becomes more useful than any single score.

  • Reuse the same rating questions each time to compare
  • Add one open text question for the why
  • Share what you heard and one thing you will change
  • Never ask more than you can act on

Choose the right question type

Ratings give a number you can track. Single choice suits yes or no checks. Ranking shows what matters most when people cannot have everything. Open text collects the reasons behind the scores.

Close the loop in the room

Because results appear live, you can read them out and ask for reactions right away. People answer more honestly when they see that the answers lead to a conversation and a decision.
